Today i returned my Rockwell Sonic sander and purchased the fein FMM 250Q. To be completely honest, i read all of the reviews on this site and others and the tool was rated well. I had to replace my old Fein, single speed model. Seems to have "walked away". Anyway, i needed to cut through some red cedar rails on my cabinets. The rockwell felt like a substantial machine and it was considerably less than the Fein. There was a reason for the difference. First of all the Rockwell just didn't feel right in my hand..i don't really know what it was, perhaps it was too big, but it just didn't feel like i had full control. Then, the heat. This thing got HOT to the point where it was uncomfortable. Next came the blades..they just aren't of the same quality as the Fein. I went through three blades in a very short time. The wood was literally smoking. the final straw was the blade kept getting loose. I ended up using a hex wrench with "T" handle to get it secure enough. I thought about it for a few days and today i called and asked if i could return it in exchange for a Fein. The Fein is just so much better. Its smoother, more comfortable and unfortunately more expensive. I had to drop another $130.00, but i figure it well last me the rest of my life. That is my opinion but you owe it to yourself to test them all because you may look at in in a different light. Good luck.
